A good skincare routine is vital to obtaining and maintaining healthy looking skin, so finding the right products for you is extremely important. Now, you do not need to go crazy and have a lengthy routine if it is unnecessary to your skin so it is best to see what works for you. Personally I think everybody should stick to moisturising, cleansing, exfoliating and a serum of sort as this is quite simple and benefits all skin types.
Now my routine is pretty complicated and long, but this is because I have products that I use on certain days or only if my skin is feeling some type of way, but this is just a quick glimpse into what personally works for me.
Botanics Rose Water Toning Spritz
My favourite daily toner at the moment is the Botanics Rose Water Toning Spritz. This toner is super affordable and I usually use it in the morning as a prep before makeup and to freshen up my skin. I also really enjoy this because you can mist it over your face throughout your day as a pick me up to add a bit more moisture to your skin if it's a bit dry and to perk it up.
The scent is rather calming, which for a £5.99 toner that is nearly always on offer, I am definitely not switching it up just yet!
Botanics All Bright Hydrating Day Cream
For my daily moisturiser I use the Botanics All Bright Hydrating Day Cream with SPF 15. Now I do own quite a few Botanics products, but their skin care line is honestly really lovely and affordable so if you do not want to spend as much money, their line is worth checking out.
I usually apply quite a bit in upward motions and let it sink into my skin before applying makeup.
I bought this on a whim since it was only about £2.00 and I still have not found a moisturiser that I am amazed by, but this one is actually really nice on the skin and only takes a small amount to blend into the skin, making my skin feel brighter and smooth. It does look nice under foundation and has not made anything slip around, yet I probably will not buy this again, just because it takes a while to blend into the skin and the lid tends to get a bit messy at times, so if anybody has any daily moisturiser recommendations feel free to let me know!
Garnier Micellar Water:
I usually swap between the different types of the water as I like all of them and it usually depends on which one is on offer at the time, but I tend to stick to the combination and sensitive skin type. I find that this cleansing water removes my makeup well and makes my skin feel fresh and ready for the rest of my routine afterwards.
When I take off my makeup for the night, I usually stick to a cleansing water rather than wipes since it's easier to take off. I have been using the Garnier Micellar Water for a while now since it really feels like it takes off all my makeup and I don't need to scrub it off my skin. I've tried pretty much all of the different types of this product but recently I've been repurchasing the Combination and Sensitive Skin type.
Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
Now sometimes it is a bit tricky to take off all of my eye makeup with the Garnier Micellar Water since my eyeliner is really difficult to take off. When I am in a rush I will go in with the Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover as this stuff instantly removes the trickiest of eye makeup without having to tug at the skin! I try not to use this too much since it is pricey but I am very impressed with how it performs!
Boots Tea Tree Witch Hazel With Active Charcoal Face Mask
About once a week after I have removed my makeup I use the Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Charcoal Face Mask which I love! I really enjoy the boots brand and there are a couple more items from their brand which I also really enjoy, to me personally I find that their products are nice to my skin and are incredibly affordable.
My skin really loves anything with witch hazel and charcoal products so I find that this really helps to even out my skin and dry out any breakouts that have erupted. I use this just before I'm about to get in the shower so it is easier to wash off and clean up afterwards.
Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser:
During the morning and at night when I am in the shower, I reach for the Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser. This is an all time favourite of mine and I have repurchased this for quite a long time. I make sure to get the cleanser foamy and rub it into my skin using small circular motions.
The best part about this cleanser is when I go in with it when I have just exfoliated as it makes my skin feel tingly and purified.
I am absolutely obsessed with how fresh my skin feels after using this and really takes off any excess dirt from the skin. My skin has definitely been enjoying this and has helped to reduce breakouts!
Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Refreshing Jelly Facial Scrub
With exfoliators, it is relatively hard to find one that isn't too scratchy or irritable on your skin, especially if somebody recommends a product since every skin type is different.
I am currently enjoying the Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Refreshing Jelly Facial Scrub since my skin is in love with witch hazel and goes really well paired with the Biore cleanser. My skin feels well exfoliated and smooth afterwards, with me usually using this once a week when my skin is feeling a bit all over the place.
Botanics Purifying Face Scrub All Bright
I tend to use this every now at and then at night to switch up my routine as it makes my skin feel bright and glowy. This is a nice affordable exfoliator and makes my skin feel more plump and alive. If you have dry skin you may want to look into this!
No7 Beautiful Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser
After I have washed my face, I go in with my No7 Beautiful Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser to bring back all of the moisture that I had lost from my cleanser. I cover my face in a thick layer, run the muslin cloth under hot water and cover my face for around 10 seconds before rubbing it in circular motions and rinsing my face with cold water to lock in the moisture.
As you can tell from the lack of product, I have been loving this and will be repurchasing another once this bottle has run out.
Botanics Refreshing Eye Roll-On All Bright
As a small prep before I go to bed I like to use the Botanics All Bright Refreshing Eye Roll-On. I do use this in the morning sometimes but I am usually in a rush so I use it more at night. Now to be honest this does not really do much, but I find the cooling sensation of the gel relaxing under my eyes and around my brow bone. I personally wouldn't say it brightens the under eye but it does soothe the bags under my eyes so that's a plus I guess, but I probably will not buy this again.
Boots Night Treatment Gel
Serum wise (kind of) I like to use the Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Night Gel after I have let the Botanics Eye Roll-On sink in. I have bought this so many times that I don't think I will be able to switch to anything else since my skin is so used to it. I literally rub so many layers of this over my skin because I feel like it is doing amazing things to any blemishes. Depending on what exfoliator I use, my skin can feel tingly when using this which I personally enjoy!
L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil Night Sleeping Cream
For my night cream I use the L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil Night Sleeping Cream, which I have already reviewed on my blog and you can have a quick read here:
http://perrypetite.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/loreal-extraordinary-sleeping-oil.html
I'm not going to go too much into detail but I apply a thick coat of this after the Boots Night Treatment Gel so that my skin can drink in all of the oils and obtain a nice balance in the morning.
From this it is probably obvious that I really enjoy Boots' own skin care range and Botanics. But for someone like me who is quite picky with skin care products and doesn't like spending too much on certain items, these brands are lovely and make my skin feel refreshed without having to go crazy on the spending when I need to repurchase, they should have a lot more recognition!
Also, my routine is definitely pretty complicated and long as I switch throughout the week but so far this has been working for me, and I am always open to trying new products!
Thank you for reading and I hope you found my skin care routine interesting! Let me know what skin care products you enjoy and be sure to follow my social media in the top right corner. Have a wonderful day!
