Loreal Extraordinary Oil Night Sleeping Oil-Cream | Review

February 10, 2017

I have only recently realised how important a good nightly moisturiser can be within your skin care routine. Yet it is always a struggle to figure out which type is right for your skin or whether it is worth splurging or keeping it cheap. I personally tend to stick to more affordable moisturisers as I feel that you don't need to ruin your bank in order to make your face feel revitalised.

What I look for in a night cream is something that is incredibly nourishing and hydrating - primarily swerving towards creams that are for dehydrated and mature skin (odd I know) as I really like to feel refreshed and almost over hydrated in the morning, despite having combination skin as my cleansers and other products tend to dry out the outer areas of my face.

I decided to give the L'Oreal Paris Extraordinary Oil Night Sleeping Oil-Cream a go due the fact that it contains 'essential oil of Rosehip and precious oil of Argan' that is 'combined with illuminating Imperata Cylindrica extract and Royal Jelly known for its protective and nutritive properties'. Now to me this made the cream sound like a moisturising machine with the amount of goodness that it could potentially do to my skin.

The L'Oreal Paris Extraordinary Oil Night Sleeping Oil-Cream retails for £15 but you can currently purchase it on offer for £10 from a selection of stores.

The consistency is very rich and has a pungent scent of lavender and rosemary which some may find slightly overpowering. I however enjoy the scent of it. The only downside to the strong scent seemed to be that I had to be careful when applying it near to my eyes as the scent would slightly make my eyes water (kind of like an onion if you get my drift), so I would recommend putting a light layer around the eye area just to prevent any irritation if your skin and eyes are quite sensitive.

Also, the cream has a very rich consistency which makes my face feel very soft and well nourished once it has absorbed. Over the past week of trying this out, my skin has felt much more plumper and silky, balancing out my combination skin wonderfully.

Now I've noticed that the cream has small speckles of glitter which I feel would either be a hit or miss for some. I personally really enjoy it as my face appears a lot brighter and luminous compared to how it usually looks and doesn't look like I've been thrown into an oily vat of glitter as you would expect a glittery moisturiser to be (but then again that does sound quite appealing though).

As much as I love this moisturiser, this may not be for you if you have highly sensitive skin as the ingredients could cause a slight irritation, but so far my skin has had positive reactions from it. Also I have noticed that a residue is left on the skin in the morning which appears once you wash your face. This could either be good or bad for some but I personally like it as I feel that I am getting twice as much moisture than I would with other night creams.

Pros

- Very rich

- Sinks into the skin comfortably

- Face feels hydrated and smoother

- Affordable

- Has a higher quality feel

- Great for dull and dry skin in need of a rich cream

- Skin appears to have more of a glow.

Cons

- Could possibly irritate sensitive skin

-  Scent may be too overpowering

-  Residue left over in the morning

- Can feel slightly sticky if too much is applied

Overall, I personally really enjoy the way my skin feels and looks whilst I have been using this night cream and would recommend it to those who have dull skin and want to perk it up a bit. However, as every skin type is different and if you have a more sensitive skin, I would recommend looking at the ingredients first before purchasing just in case a specific oil or fragrance does not agree with your skin.
