COLOURPOP HAUL | swatches + review

December 26, 2016

Hi Guys I hope you all had a nice Christmas!

After a long and crazy past couple of weeks I am finally back with a new post!

Today I am sharing my views on the ever popular brand ColourPop! Now I have never tried any of ColourPop's makeup, but it has been repeatedly raved about by every single blogger and youtuber and I have been DYING to gets my hands on some of their products for such a long time.

Fortunately, I have been trying and testing out these products for a decent amount of time and have a lot to say.  (They are incredible I need to buy more asap)

(Out and About lip bundle and Cookies highlighter trio)

I ended up purchasing the Out and About lip bundle and the Cookies Highlighter Trio as both sets contain stunning colours and quite frankly of course I am going to buy a highlighter set named 'cookies', it's adorable! You cannot purchase ColourPop within the UK so the only way to purchase these items are to order from the ColourPop website and have it shipped to the UK from the US. However, I had managed to bag free international shipping but with a £13.00 customs fee.

Firstly, the Out and About liquid lipstick bundle contains two Ultra Matte Lips and one Ultra Satin lip, which retail for $15 or about £12 in the UK. This for me was ideal as it allowed me to get a feel for both textures/formulas and gave me the chance to figure out which formula suited me better.

I must say that if you are into dark mauve tones then I would highly recommend purchasing this trio and adding it to your collection as each shade pulls out different tones and really brings your look together. However, you will need to apply a fair amount of lip balm before applying this product as it tends to draw out the lines in your lips and accentuate any dry patches.

I'm tossing between which I prefer best as it honestly depends on my lips on that specific day. But I would say that Times Square is a really nice every day liquid lipstick that you would be able to combine with any type of look and still look natural/casual. Both Viper and Baracuda can be worn everyday however, especially now that we are entering winter as it adds a bit of pizzazz to your makeup and I have received compliments for these two shades in particular.

Pros

- Long wearing

- Extremely pigmented

- Looks lovely on the lips.

-Easy and smooth application

- Comfortable to wear, especially the Ultra Satin Lip

- Can reapply during the day without it bunching up

Cons

- Can be drying on the lips

- It wears off with drinks (You may have to use a straw with this lipstick)

- Food breaks down the lipstick on the inner part of the lip (As long as your lips have no contact with food what so ever you're all good!)

- The 2 darker shades can transfer onto your face

The next trio I had purchased was the Cookies Highlighter Trio! This set is retailed for $20 or around £16 in the UK.  This initially caught my eye as the set specifies that it is most suited for 'fair skin tones' and contains a pleasurable mix of champagnes, golds, silvers and pinks which gives you a good range of tones, guaranteed that one will look stunning complimented with your skin tone.

Since I have never tried ColourPop before I was completely unaware of how bizarre the texture  of their products are. It is a creme formula that almost feels like an extremely silky powder to the touch. It is honestly such a buttery highlighter that I don't think I have ever felt anything so smooth before as strange as it sounds. As it is so soft, some may find this difficult to work with or understand how to apply. I prefer to apply these with a damp beauty blender for a much more pigmented, healthy glow and then blend over the top using a Real Techniques Setting Brush, to really make my cheeks pop.

My favourite highlighter out of this trio would definitely be Smokin Whistles as the glow that you can achieve with this highlighter is unbelievable! If you are fair skinned and love champagne highlighters but struggle with the colour being a touch too dark then this is worth trying out! Once it catches the light you can really see the blend of silver, champagne and pinks, yet it blends wonderfully into the skin without it appearing too dark. I honestly wish that I could wear this shade all day and night 24/7, it's so gorgeous to look at.

Pros

- Appears as a healthy glow on fair skin

- Can achieve a subtle and dramatic highlight

- Trio contain 3 highlighters with 3 different tones

-  Can be placed under or on top of makeup

Cons

- Keep the lid on tight to stop product from drying

- Can be difficult to apply/ find a method that suits you at first.

Overall, I can confirm that I am late to the ColourPop party but I am loving it nevertheless! If you have not yet tried any of their products before, it's definitely worth considering trying it out as they are fantastic quality and a good value for money, regardless of the shipping fee!

ColourPop, please come to the UK!

  1. I really love the look of the liquid lipsticks but the customs charges always put me off. I think I need a trip to the States to stock up!

    1. It put me off slightly as well, it's a shame really! Life would be so much easier if the brand was sold on beauty bay!
